Jeremy Rusu and Annie Davey: Fiddle Meets Everything
Rusu Duo is the joyful musical partnership of Annie Davey and Jeremy Rusu—married collaborators whose performances are as rich in variety as they are in heart.
Jeremy, born blind and raised in Winnipeg, is a musical force of nature with perfect pitch and jaw-dropping versatility. A true multi-instrumentalist, he plays accordion, piano, guitar, bass, bagpipes, drums, and more—often switching between several in a single performance. He studied jazz in college, has played with Canadian fiddle legends, records albums for fiddlers across the country, and regularly accompanies competitors at the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Competition. Though deeply rooted in the Canadian fiddle scene, his talents span jazz, rock, country, reggae, and classical traditions. He’s also a composer, piano tuner, and avid instrument collector.
Annie, a fiddler and vocalist, grew up in New York’s North Country immersed in traditional music. She started Suzuki violin at age two under the guidance of her fiddler father, Carl Davey. After returning to her hometown of Potsdam, NY, she rediscovered her passion for fiddling, became president of the North Country Fiddlers, and built a vibrant musical life.
Together, Annie and Jeremy create performances that are playful, moving, and musically expansive. Their shows blend old-time Canadian, Irish, Scottish, Ottawa Valley, French Canadian, and Métis fiddle styles, jazz standards, 1950s pop, country classics, original tunes, and virtuosic solos—from accordion showpieces to piano improvisations and bagpipe marches. Annie’s voice adds another layer of charm, while Jeremy’s humor and quick wit create a relaxed, welcoming vibe.
The heart of Rusu Duo is variety—of instruments, genres, textures, and stories. With over 100 instruments in their home and a shared love of exploration, their concerts feel like an unfolding conversation between two people who know each other deeply and love what they do. Whether playing at international festivals like Montmagny’s Carrefour Mondial de l’Accordéon, at the North American Fiddlers Hall of Fame, libraries, or house concerts, Annie and Jeremy bring joy and authenticity to every stage they share.
They released their first album together, Songs About Rainbows, under the name Annie & Jeremy, available on major streaming platforms. More recordings are on the way, including Jeremy’s upcoming album of original fiddle tunes—featuring Annie on fiddle, of course.
People often say they can feel the love between them when they play. That’s exactly what they hope to share.
